Outback resilience on display as Julia Creek Dirt n Dust celebrates 30 Years of Dirt, Dust, & Determination

The iconic Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival is officially 30 years strong. After a challenging start to the year marked by significant flooding across Julia Creek and North West Queensland, the community is turning challenge into celebration with a massive home-grown entertainment lineup for the 2026 festival, held from 17–19 April

A legacy of grit and determination

“Dirt n Dust has always been about backing each other, community spirit and enjoying a good time,” said Kalan Lococo, President of the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival. “After natural disasters, our community has shown incredible toughness and determination. In 2026, we aren’t just hosting a festival; we are celebrating 30 years of resilience and the mateship that keeps this region standing strong. We invite everyone to stand with our region, support local communities, and get dirty with us. Julia creek is definitely open for business.”

A home-grown lineup for a milestone anniversary

To celebrate its 30th birthday, the festival is going “BIG” with an all-Queensland roster of country music stars. This year’s headline act is Moranbah-born superstar Bella Mackenzie, who will take the stage on Saturday, 18 April

The full weekend lineup also stars:

  • Trent Bell (Friday, 17 April): A former The Voice Australia semi-finalist and X-Factor star, Trent has opened for Aussie legends like Jimmy Barnes and Jessica Mauboy.
  • Josie (Friday, 17 April): A North Queensland native, Josie is described as equal parts powerhouse and storyteller, bringing an untamed energy that mirrors the red dirt roads of her childhood.
  • Billie Rose (Saturday, 18 April): Offering a “cinematic sound,” Billie Rose blends 90s country roots with soulful vocals and modern roots-influenced melodies.
  • Zac Cross Band (Friday, 17 April): Redefining “Country Rock” with stadium-shaking drums and loud guitar riffs, this Rockhampton-born band brings raw, rugged energy to the stage.

Double Celebration: 110 Years of Country Racing

The 2026 festival also marks a historic milestone for local racing with the Multicom Resources Resources Artesian Express Horse Races.

“This year is monumental as the Julia Creek Turf Club celebrates 110 years of racing pride in the outback,” said Timothy Mark, President of the Julia Creek Turf Club. “Sharing our anniversary with the 30th year of Dirt n Dust proves that the spirit of Julia Creek is unbreakable.
